According to a new report, the median wages earned by new immigrants increased significantly between 2010 and 2019. The median yearly salary for a male immigrant working in Canada rose from $32,500 during 2010 to $62,300 during 2019. In 2010, female immigrants working in Canada earned an annual median salary of $24,500 but that increased to $44,900 by 2019. The report also said that if an immigrant had been legally living in Canada prior to relocating as a permanent resident (for example, as an international student or temporary foreign worker), they were likely to earn even more money compared with immigrants who had not been living in Canada previously.
