Workers are needed to fill tens of thousands of construction jobs in Canada. For example, there are 20,000 construction jobs advertised in the province of Ontario and around 2,000 construction workers are needed on Prince Edward Island. There is growing demand for new housing all across Canada, but not enough construction workers to meet demand. The shortage of construction workers is expected to get worse with about 20% of the construction labor force predicted to retire this decade. It is forecast that 38,000 construction workers will retire in British Columbia by 2032 and there is concern that the province will not be able to replace them.
